There is little doubt that pressure washing is one of the best ways of ensuring a high curb value as well as the longevity of your property. A professionally washed house will look clean and remain safe from all kinds of organic and inorganic pollutants. However, there are certain circumstances where pressure washing is not the ideal solution.

  • A Particularly Harsh Winter

The ideal time to pressure wash your house would be anytime between early spring and late fall. That is, between March and November. There is nothing wrong with having your house washed in mid-winter, but you should try to make sure that you complete the job before the temperature dips below 40 degrees. The water can freeze on the surfaces you are trying to wash, especially if you try to do the job in the evening or early morning. You could also put yourself at risk since all that water would turn to ice, and it would be very difficult to walk or climb on such a slippery surface.

  • Wait for Good Weather

While you can pressure wash your house or any other property whenever you like, it won’t be a good idea to do so during a blizzard or a rainstorm. You should also avoid washing your house when the wind is very strong since you won’t be able to derive optimum pressure from your machine.

  • Old Painted Surfaces

Unless you want to prep your property for a fresh paint job, you should avoid using an excessively powerful pressure washer to clean your walls and other surfaces. Too high a pressure setting can easily peel the paint off the walls, especially if they have been painted a long time back.

  • Take Care of Your Windows

Powerful pressure-washing equipment can easily break windows, ventilation points, and other delicate surfaces. If your home has plenty of windows and other external glass structures, you should refrain from using a powerful pressure washer.

  • Plants and Landscaping

Avoid power washing your plants, bushes, and flowers. You might think they would look nice after being washed, but that is not the case, and it can harm your plants.
